The Marianas Trench is the deepest part of the world’s oceans. It is also the deepest location on the surface of the Earth’s crust. The trench has a maximum depth of about 10,911 meters (35,798 feet; 6.78 miles), and is located in the western North Pacific Ocean, to the east and south of the Mariana Islands, near Guam.
