The traps on a Venus Flytrap range in size from 1-3cms in length. Each of the traps have small trigger hairs. The touch sensive hairs are triggered by an insect which in turn closes the trap. As the insect tries to get away the trap tightens.Once tightly sealed, the The Venus Flytrap secretes digestive juices into the trap to digest it’s prey.. After 7 to 10 days the bug is digested and the plant reopens for it’s next meal. Rain washes away the remains of the bug.
